The 5-month Computerized Office Administration program is designed for re-entry or re-training of students with several years of work experience.  This program updates office skills and introduces the new technology used in the workforce today. Students may pay for courses individually and still receive a diploma by successfully completing a proficiency test in any course. 

This program is offered twice per academic year and runs on a Monday to Friday schedule, September to December & January to June.

Admission Requirements

  • Successful completion of High School Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Those applying as a mature student must be at least 28 years of age – Must provide a detailed resume outlining experience and qualifications.
  • Minimum 23 years of age

Accounting 3090
Students will be given a strong foundation in accounting fundamentals and a clear understanding of accounting terminology.  Students will be able to understand the usefulness and importance of accounting procedures as business owners, managers or office workers.

Simply Accounting 3045 (prerequisite: Accounting 3090)
This course will look at the step-by-step instructions for performing cash sales and purchases by writing and editing cheques and entering and correcting sales receipts.  Students will prepare invoices, sales orders and sales receipts for cutomers, as well as, apply payments including discounts and credits. The steps to reconcile monthly bank statements and credit card statements will be covered.  Vendor bills, payments on bills including discounts and credits will be covered and varioius vendor reports will be produced.  Prepare and file GST and PST.  Enter employee timesheets, creating payroll and viewing monthly payroll statements.

Keyboarding Skill Development 3025
Speed and accuracy are emphasized in this course to refine or enhance keyboarding skills.

Windows/Outlook 3025
Students will learn file and folder management, accessories, disk organization and advanced searches covered in Windows XP.  The Outlook segment of this course concentrates on composing, replying, and forwarding e-mail; attaching files, and creating advanced signatures.  Outlook also covers scheduling appointments and prioritizing tasks.

Microsoft Word 3090
Students will cover the preparation and production of text documents such as letters, memorandums and reports.  Students will learn techniques of creating, editing and formatting a Word document, creating a multiple page report, desktop publishing for a newsletter, creating styles, outlines, tables and tables of contents, creating a form letter and mailing labels and integrating Word with other programs.

Microsoft Excel 3090
Students will analyze numbers with worksheets and charts.  They will create financial budgets, reports and a variety of other forms.  Students will develop professional looking worksheets and charts using various tools and formatting options.

Microsoft Access 3090
Learning to utilize the database management capabilities of this program will enable students to store and retrieve large amounts of information.  Students will learn different methods of querying the database to answer specific questions.  They will learn to create, modify, copy and update a database, as well as, create forms and reports.

Microsoft PowerPoint 3025
This course will deliver concepts that can immediately be put to practice by completing lab assignments.  Students will learn how to create simple presentations using templates and their own designs.
