Emphasis is placed on dental terminology, charting, and dental office procedures. Students may also choose our Dental/Medical Administrative Assistant Program which includes medical terminology, body systems, medical transcription and medical office procedures.

Dental Terminology and Records
In a dental office it is imperative that all records be maintained accurately, completely, and currently. This course introduces the students to basic dental knowledge including dental development, tooth morphology, oral anatomy, the significance of patient records, restorative charting skills, periodontal charting, as well as computerized systems in the dental office.

Dental Office Procedures
The effective management of the dental office is integral to the success of the practice. The topics covered in this course include all activities in practice and maintenance of business records. Included in this are practice management, office systems, appointment scheduling, continued care, and financial management.

Document Transcription
Students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to accurately transcribe a variety of reports from audio tapes. Students incorporate their knowledge of terminology, abbreviations, and punctuation and grammar. Emphasis is placed on development of transcription speed and proofreading skills.

Advanced Microsoft Word
Once the foundations of Microsoft Word are taught, students will apply these skills to create documents such as newsletters, tables, forms, merged documents, and labels. Students display their advanced skills and creative work in a portfolio.

Advanced Microsoft Access
Building on the concepts mastered in the introductory course the focus of this course is the creation and manipulation of complex reports and forms using multiple search queries and criteria.

Office Communications
This course provides students with an introduction to basic grammar and punctuation, as well as the necessary guidelines to planning and writing business letters and memos.

This course provides an introduction to accounting procedures that gives the students a foundation in bookkeeping and a clear understanding of terminology.

Computerized Accounting
Business cope with heavy transaction loads by computerizing to do the accounting faster and more reliably. Computerized systems have replaced manual systems in many organizations. Properly trained staff is critical to the success of any accounting information system.

Students will learn how to use the Microsoft Office 2003 Suite of productivity software. Emphasis will be placed on Microsoft Word (word processing, document creation), Microsoft Excel (spreadsheet creation), Microsoft PowerPoint (presentation layout and design), Microsoft Access (database design and use), and Microsoft Outlook (email and time management).

We will teach you to respond effectively to the warning signs that someone is beginning to lose control, but also addresses how you can deal with your own stress, anxieties, and emotions when confronted with these challenging situations.
