One of the first things students notice when they step through the doors at Atlantic Business College is its size. It’s friendly, it’s comfortable, and it’s small. Just the way the school likes it. But, don’t let the size fool you. With over 35 years of graduating qualified students, the businesses in the community and surrounding areas certainly know the name Atlantic Business College.
“It’s about creating the ideal learning environment”, says Academic Director, Jacqueline Devine. “Students learn best when they aren’t fighting for the attention of the instructor. That is why we maintain a small class size structure. Each student receives optimal one-on-one training”, Mrs. Devine adds. “It doesn’t get much better than that.” Though each program at the college has a maximum number for enrolment, the college does not have a waiting list. Should numbers exceed maximum in a particular program, an additional class would be added to accommodate the overflow. It’s this flexibility, coupled with the high hiring rate that makes the college attractive to students.
When individuals realize that it is like a small community where everyone knows each other and learns from each other, including the faculty, that is very appealing to them. Local businesses quite often contact the college directly when looking to fill vacancies within their respective organizations. That provides a huge opportunity for quickly finding employment upon graduation. Some employers only call ABC when hiring. They have hired previous graduates and are pleased with the quality of training those individuals received, so why go elsewhere? We do the work for them. The college will then contact graduates to see if they are working, and if they are not, will provide them the details on the job posting. Our goal is to see students hired in their respective fields and anything we can do to assist in that search, we are more than happy to do so.
It comes down to building a relationship with both the students and businesses. In each instance, Atlantic Business College focuses on that one-on-one attention. It builds trust and trust builds loyalty. With many students coming to the college as referrals from family and friends, along with the businesses that call for employment openings, it says volumes about ABC’s reputation.
